ATMOSPHERIC INFRARED EMISSION

Atmospheric gases, having temperature greater than "absolute zero", emit and absorb electromagnetic radiation at wavelengths determined by the atomic and molecular structure of the gas. This graph shows emission of infrared radiation by the earth-atmosphere system to space, which is measurable by earth-orbiting environmental satellites.
