But, of course, remote inference can be a matter of interpretation even if the remotely sensed information is the same. In the case of environmental satellite data, there may be several different ways to interpret data gathered since there is never a unique way to interpret multi-spectral radiation information measured by satellite sensors. Remote inference may thus be thought of as the processing (usually mathematical processing) of the raw radiational data sensed by the satellite instruments into interpretations or inferences about the scene viewed. |
