We used to play at Acredale Community Park every Saturday afternoon starting at 2:00pm(winter season) and 5:30pm(summer season) regardless of weather condition. We moved to UMD campus intramural engineering field since 2006. The field is to the east of big M at east gate of UMD campus.

1.   We got runners-up in 99' Cup of Chinese Oversea Students Soccer Tournament. (We UMCP were host.)

2.  We paticipated the Northeast Cup 2000 Tournament(NE2000) which was held on the Memorial Day weekend (May 27 and 28, 2000) at Rutgers University, Cook Campus at New Brunswick, NJ. We won two games(NJ Star, NYWW) and lost two(China Town, DC-Hunter United), and we got fifth place. Chase Manhaton Bank sponsored $1000 for us(contributed by Wang Xiaolin and Yao Yuliang).

3.  We paticipated the 5th Grand National Champions which was held on the Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 3 and 4, 2000) at Columbus, OH (400 miles from Maryland). In group matches, we won Wisconsin Eagles 4-2(Wang Xueli scored 4 goals) and lost to Silican Valley Tigers 1:2(Peng Feng); In 1/4 finals we lost to ALL-STAR team DC-Hunters United and the goal came at 88th minute.Also it's a fareware game to Yang Qin,one of our best players who went to Cincinati to study after this tournament. 16 players who went to Ohio: Zhai Yu, Zhou Ming, Yao Yuliang, Wang Jiang, Yang Qin, Han Zhu, Zhang Bing, Hu Zhaoyang, Zhou Xiangrong, Xia Bin, Peng Feng, Zheng Qigong, Wang Xueli, Liu Lin, Jing Yijia, Chen Wanchun, and 4 cheerleaders: Yuliang's GF Yang Ye, Yang Qin's wife Zhu Jiang, Xia Bin's wife Mei Yuqin and Han Zhu's GF Wang Li. 4.  We attended the 3rd Chinese Overseas Student Soccer Tournament which was held on Oct. 7th and 8th, 2000. UVA and VCU cohosted it in Richmond. In group games, we beat VT 2:0; and we romped to a 7-2 win over ODU in 1/4 final and won Hopkins 2-0 in semifinal; but unfortunatelly, due to short of players(16 players play 3 consecutive games), we lost to UVA 1-3 in the final. And again we just got runners-up as 1999...

5.  We captured the champion of 2001 North East Championship Cup(NE2001).

On 05/26/2001, Saturday, in group games, we drew Princeton Univ 2-2 ( Jia Feng, Wang Xueli ) and thrashed USA Chinese Athletic Sports Federation 7-0 (Jia Feng, Wang Xueli, Zheng Qigong, He Biao, Chen Wanchun)

On 05/27/2001, we crushed New Jerwey Hackers 4-2 (Jia Feng 2, Wang Xueli, He Biao) in quarter-final and trashed NY Athletic 2-1 (Jia Feng, Peng Feng) in semifinal; in final, we beat New York Chinese United(NYCU) 7-6 ( 90 min 0-0 + 8 rounds of penalty kick, Yao Yuliang, Zheng Qigong, Wang Xueli, Zhai Yu, Wang Jiang).

This is the first champion we got after the team was formally formed.
We played 5 games in 2 consecutive days with only 16 iron players:

6. We got two champion cups in just 9 days!!!
In 2001' Oversea Chinese Soccer Tournament in Baltimore on 06/02 and 06/03, we captured another champion. Thus we got two titles in just 9 days. We hammered UTK 5-0 (Wang Xueli, Jia Feng, Ren Ying, Qigong 2) and trashed SHU 2-1(Xia Bin, Wang Xueli) in group games; thrashed VCU 6-2 (Jia Feng, Wang Xueli, Ren Ying, Xia Bin, Chen Tong, Li Hongjun) 1/4 final and crushed NCU 1-0(Wang Xueli) in semifinal; romped to a 3-0(Zheng Qigong, Wang Xueli, Chen Wanchun) win over JHU in final.

After this tournament, our MVP Wang Xueli left for Pittsburgh for his new career, but he will go back to join us whenever we have any big tournament to attend.

7. A big party was thrown in Wanchun's apartment to celebrate our team's historic victory on 06/17/2001 from 11:00am to 10:00pm. 35 people showed up with their best cooking dishes, beers, liquors(WU3 LIANG2 YE, ER4 GUO1 TOU2), softdrinks... And the quality of the food was much better than that of those Chinese restaurants. We played MA2 JIANG4, cards, SI4 GUO2 DA4 ZHAN4, Karaoke... One guy got as drunk as a sow, and his last name is Wang :) and he is in google now.

11. We got third place in 2002 North-East Championship Cup(NE2002, 05/26/2002). In group games, we crushed USA Chinese Athletic Sports Federation 4-1 (Song Lei 2, Xueli, Yuliang penalty) and beat Princeton 3-0(Xueli,Yuliang Penalty, Wanchun);in 1/4 final, drubbed Rutgers Racers 4-2(Wanchun, Yuliang 1 volley + 2 penalties); in seminalfinal, lost to NYWW 7-6(90 min regular time 1-1 + penalty shootout) (Han Zhu & Peng Feng). 26.We formed a united team with Tsinghua to have played 2004 Grand National Tournament in Michigan in Labor Day weekend. Of 30 players, we have 15 players. In group games, lost to Tigers 0-3 and won over Atlanta United 10-0; won host Michigan 2-0 in quarter-final(Wang Zhong,Peng Feng); lost to New York China Town 1-2 in semi-final ( Jia Feng ). 27. We attended a small tournament in Delaware on 10/16/2004. We won over Penn State medical school 6-0 in semifinal and beat University of Delaware 5-2 in the final. Another team is from Lehigh University. We were delayed severals hours in I-95 due to that 90+ car accident.

28. Zhou Ming accepted a faculty position in Oklahoma and settled down in Dallas with his wife in July, 2005. Ji Min also got an offer in Dallas after getting his MBA degree from UMD. Hopefully Zhou Ming and Ji Min can open a new branch for our team ( Dallas FEN1 DUO4 :) ). Our funny old cop (LAO JING CHA) Zhang DongSheng moved to Boston. "Gang is shrinking, but network is expanding".

29. We went to Atlanta to participate 2005 Grand National Tournament. Click here for more details: 2005 Grand Tournament . We got $700 sponsorship from seawolftech company(contributed by Sun Ninghai). SEA WOLF TECH COMPANY . Liu Tong helped us purchase our new team jerseys, also he sponsored 500RMB to us, and Chen Tong helped us bring back those jerseys from Beijing.

MVP Zhao Peng made the greatest contribution and sacrifice in this tournament by playing goalie.Unfortunately, in the 1/4 final, he got injured by Dallas Dragon dirty player and got 8 stiches in the eyebrow.

Yuliang did most organization work for this tournament. He compiled manual .

We had 17 players. Outside helpers: Jim Guo from DC Explorer, Xu Ke and Song Zhipeng from Lehigh Univ, Li Qiang from Boston, Chen Haibin from Pittsburg, Zhang Yong from Duke; our own players: Jia Feng, Liu Jianwei, Yu Lige, Peng Feng, Wang Zhong, Yang Qin, Wang Xiang, Zheng Qigong, Zhou Xiangrong, Xiong Hao, Wu Yunhua and Wanchun.

This was the first time ever that I was afraid of being knocked out in the group stage.

In the first group game, we won Texas 2008 1-0. Chen Haibin set a record for the tournament: the fastest goal. One second into the game, Chen Haibin kicked the ball directly into the net of 2008 and sealed our victory over 2008. Then after so many beautiful saves by Zhao Peng( nickname is Zhao P, or 9500 SUI4(years) :) and our solid defense, we held the 1-0 score to the 70th minute. ( group game is 70 min long in our group ). Second group game, we lost to host Atalnta 1-0. Third group game, beat Michigan United 2-1 ( Jia Feng, Chen Haibin ). Jia Feng sprained his ankle. In 1/4 final Vs Dallas Dragon. This team hired our former women national team goalie Gao Hong as coach and recruited a key player from Canada. In the 44th min, the ref gave them a PK for obvious no foul at all. We didn't know why the ref favored Dragon and treated us unfairly... and we trailed 1-0. 10 minutes from time, MVP Zhao Peng got kicked by their dirty forward and we had to sent him to hospital. 8 stiches in the eyebrow... ctdy dragon guy. 85 min, Sweeper Wanchun made a mistake: kicked the ball into our own net when he tried to clear the ball after sub-goalie didn't catch the ball... So we lost to Dragon 2-0. Frankly speaking, we didn't get any good scoring opportunity. Without that PK and had ZP not injured, it would be another story, I guess.

Funny story? One player used GPS and at 9:00pm he said he was just 7 miles away from hotel, but he couldn't be able to find the hotel until 1:00am :) Another player, after winning some bucks from wanchun in MJ play, so high lah, and even murmured "wanchun" in his dream :) Another guy got his nose bleeding in the morning after visiting some famous clubs... and he coined up the famous word "Coca-Cola Club" :), which made us laugh to death...

30. Hershey Cup 2005: On 11/6/2005, we had a united team with Lehigh to attend a mini-tournament in Hershey, PA. 4 teams: UMD-Lehigh United, Pittsburg United, Penn State Medical School, Penn. State. We beat Pittsburg 2-1 ( Wang Jiang, Xu Ke ) in group game and won over Penn. State 2-1 (Wang Jiang, Yuliang) in the final. Here is a photo taken: Lehigh-UMD United team .

31. We had to cancel our routine play for the whole winter season of 2005-2006 after 8 years of struggle every Saturday afternoon in Acredale Community Park field. Core and die-hard guns left and no fresh blood flow into the team. We are shrinking...

32. Peng Feng, one of our key players, self-claimed MA2 WANG2(King of Ma2 Jiang4), left for CA for his new job in ask.com. He came to CS department of UMD in year 2000.

35. Hershey Cup 2006: We formed a united team with Lehigh to attend a mini tournament in Penn State Medical school on 09/23/2006. In group games, won Delaware 4-2 (regular time 1-1(yuliang) + PK (yao yuliang, zhao peng, yuan zhong, yang kejia, jia feng); in final we beat PSU 2-1 (wang zhong and jia feng scored for us). The host is Penn State medical school team.

37. Hershey Cup 2007: 13 Maryland + 3 Lehigh players to attend Hershey Cup 2007 on 05/26/2007 (Memorial Day Weekend). Beat Delaware 2-1 ( Ye Cong, Zhou Xiangrong), won over Penn State Medical School 4-0 ( Wang Zhong, Ye Cong, Yao Yuliang, Zhao Peng ), 1-1 drew with Penn State (Yao Yuliang). 38. MDB 2007: 16 players attended NE07 in NJ on 7/8/2007. In group games, beat NJ-Sunfire 2-0 (Lin Zhe, Yang Kejia); beat NJ-Star 2-1 ( Ye Cong 2 ). In final vs NYWW, 2-2 in regulation ( Ye Cong, Yu Lige ), direct penalty shootout, lost 3-1. Some NE07 pics .

39. MDB 2008: NJ 7/4 - 7/5. In group games, draw with NY Long-Island 3-3 (Yao Yuliang, Deng Geng, Peng Hao); beat NJ-Sunfile 2-1 (Guo Juchen, Ye Cong ). In Semi-final vs NJ-Star, we only got 11 players, including 2 injury-hit ones, lost 3-2 ( Ye Cong 2 ).

40. Hershey Cup 2008: We formed a united team with Lehigh to attend a mini tournament in Penn State Medical school on 08/23/2008. Group game won Pittsburg 0:0 + PK(4:3, Ju Xiaonan, Gonghao, etc), Final lost to Hershey 2:2(Ju Xiaonan, Chen Xinxin) + PK(2:3). Other game results: Hershey won Penn State 3-1 in the other group game. Pittsburg beat Penn State 3-0 in the 3rd place game. We are not good at PK, hoho. After winning 3 times in a row, this is the first time we didn't get the title.
